Running and walking for charity and unity!
14/4/2012- PÁPA, Hungary - The first ever "Spring Fun Run" was arranged in Pápa on the 14th April, 2012. The 5 kilometres run saw a healthy cornucopia of 47 male, 46 female and 98 kids runners, 76 walkers of all ages and multinational background.
- The best runners were awarded by the HAW commander, Colonel Keith Boone.
- Also NAMA deputy general manager, László Szarvas and the mayor of Pápa, Tamás Áldozó pariticipated in the event.
The event was met with glowing praise and excitement which garnished 200.000 HUF for local charity (Foundation: Pápa City Government Foundation for the Social Care of Elderly; Organisation: Pápa City Government’s Unified Social Institution, Day Institution of Handicapped). There was no entry fee, so everything collected was voluntary donations.
The HAW Commander, Colonel Keith Boone and Pápa Mayor, Tamás Áldozó, opened the Spring Fun Run with great enthusiasm and promise of unity and fun. They both spoke about the intent of the event to bring familiarity and awareness to the many entities residing in Papa.
The excitement and enthusiasm from the younger participants was palpable, they really enriched the event. The event coordination team was thrilled to see their efforts to organize the event did not go in vain: much larger audience than expected participated the event. The event was organized by The Heavy Airlift Wing, Nato Airlift Management Agency, Boeing, and the City of Pápa.
