Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) reaches 8 000 flight hours

16/8/2012 - PÁPA AIR BASE, Hungary – After 37 months of operation around the globe and huge efforts by the whole multinational HAW team, Heavy Airlift Wing reached 8 000 flight hours on the 16th August, 2012, three weeks after the wing’s 3rd anniversary ceremonies.

Major McDowell with his crew on SAC 03 passed the milestone of 8000 HAW C-17 flighthours approximately at 1300Z today on its way towards Afghanistan with Polish cargo!

 

The previous flight hours’ milestones of HAW are as follows:

 

- 1 000 flight hours: 12th February, 2010

 

- 2 000 flight hours: 12th August, 2010

 

- 3 000 flight hours: 7th December, 2010

 

- 4 000 flight hours: 1st April, 2011

 

- 5 000 flight hours: 9th September, 2011

 

- 6000 flight hours: 9th December, 2011

 

- 7000 flight hours: 1st April, 2012
