9/12/2011 - PÁPA AIR BASE, Hungary - After 29 months of operation and huge efforts by the whole multinational HAW team, Major Nicosia (United States Air Forces) with his crew passed the milestone of 6 000 HAW C17 flight hours.

1/12/2011 - PÁPA AIR BASE, Hungary – The traditional Christmas market event organized by the multinational community in Pápa raised 1 014 000 Hungarian forints for the Foundation for the Education of Children with Disability in Pàpa. The sum total of the market was donated to the foundation today in Pápa air base.

23/11/2011 Pápa, Hungary - Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) hosted distinguished visitors from Budapest: the United States’ ambassador Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, the Romanian ambassador Alexandru Victor Micula and the Swedish ambassador Karin Olofsdotter visited Pápa air base with their defense attachés.

9/9/2011 Pápa, Hungary - After 26 months of operation and huge efforts by the whole multinational HAW team, Major Vollen (Norway) with his crew on SAC 01 passed the milestone of 5 000 HAW C17 flight hours.

26/8/2011 Pápa, Hungary - “Arrogant Smokers” leave a burning cigarette in an office, it sets the top floor on fire, people are trapped in their offices, the alarm is off. This was the fictional storyline in a fire drill that was run at HAW (Heavy Airlift Wing) at Pápa Air Base.

NATO countries land successful jump week
11/8/2011 - RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany - More than 200 paratroopers from six NATO countries participated in airborne jump operations during International Jump Week Aug. 8 through 11.

15/7/2011 - AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy - Coalition forces with the Heavy Airlift Wing from Papa Air Base, Hungary, provided C-17 Globemaster III airlift support to U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team jump week event July 11-14 here.

A Boeing C-17 Globemaster III cargo aircraft took off from Pápa Air Base, Hungary on 19 July, aboard were 31 Hungarian paratroopers who accomplished several jumps as an integral part of their normal annual training.
Hungarian Air Base Commander gets flight experience on SAC-03
12/7/2011- PÁPA AIR BASE, Hungary - Colonel Miklós Domonkos, (Hungarian Defence Forces), the Commander of the Pápa Air Base, had his first flight on board of one of the C-17 aircraft executing local training flight with Colonel Keith Boone (United States Air Forces), Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) Commander.
Air Base Receives Streamer
President of the Republic Dr. Pál Schmitt awarded a streamer to the HDF Pápa Air Base on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its existence. The streamer was tied with all due solemnities to the unit colours by Lt Gen Zoltán Orosz, Deputy Chief of the MoD Defence Staff on Friday, July 1. The notable anniversary was commemorated with a family day containing appealing programs.
