The Heavy Airlift Squadron (HAS)
We designed our unit structure, policies, and procedures to operate in support of combat and humanitarian airlift wherever-and whenever-our participating nations need. Our tight knit unit relies heavily on continuation training with and modeling the best practices of sister squadrons in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. Our family of crew members has quickly developed the pride, the professionalism, and the esprit-de-corps needed to successfully execute our multinational efforts worldwide.
The Heavy Airlift Squadron is a World Class Organization which has brought the best together from 12 nations to form one multifaceted team, consisting of the specialized functions of Safety, Intelligence, Tactics, Training, Standardization and Evaluation, Mission Security Forces, Flight Records, and Scheduling.
The flight crews of the HAS represent the only FMS unit trained and capable of performing the entire spectrum of C-17 Airland and Airdrop Mission Capabilities: Day/Night/NVG High/Low Level Tactical Arrival and Departure, Assault Landing Zone Capable, Air to Air Refueling, Single Ship Air Drop, and Aeromedical Evacuation Operations.
As a squadron, we prove daily we safely and effectively operate missions to locations anywhere in the world, even to the most austere locations and conditions. We look forward to the future and to continue delivering the remarkable capabilities of strategic airlift to the SAC nations!
